AarReha Schinznach is one of Switzerland's leading rehabilitation clinics located in a picturesque landscape about 40 km away from Zurich. The clinic offers high-quality rehabilitation services for musculoskeletal diseases and specializes in rheumatology as well as osteoporosis therapy.

The service portfolio of the clinic's radiology department includes conventional x-ray, musculoskeletal, and abdominal Ultrasound and DXA for the assessment of bone density. Digital image processing is performed on reading stations equipped with the iQ-VIEW DICOM viewer.

In October 2012, AarReha Schinznach was considering upgrading their existing 10 iQ-VIEW licenses and perhaps installing additional ones. IMAGE's local sales partner, Raymed Imaging, was contacted for a cost-effective solution and recommended the following scenario:

Instead of keeping the single-user license system, Raymed suggested upgrading the existing iQ-VIEW licenses to a concurrent user model. Since the clinic's radiologists were typically not using all 10 workstations at the same time, a concurrent license for 6 users seemed to be a perfect solution.

A major advantage of the concurrent license scenario is that licenses are hardware independent and additional iQ-VIEW licenses can easily be installed on other workstations if needed. For AarReha Schinznach, a maximum of 60 workstations (or ten times the number of concurrent users) can now be equipped with iQ-VIEW.

Consequently, reading physicians at AarReha Schinznach enjoy a much greater flexibility without being bound to a specific workstation. Even if any hardware changes, the workflow will not be interrupted since replacement license procedures are avoided. Although the concurrent license model entailed a higher investment at first, it will certainly pay off in the future in terms of efficiency.
