Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, Pakistan

IMAGE’s local sales partner, Imagemed5, assisted the hospital during the PACS installation project and provided them with the requested global PACS solution or vendor-neutral archive.

Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad opened its doors in 1993 with the aim of providing the highest quality medical care to the people of Pakistan. Twenty years later, the 500 bed hospital reached, yet another, milestone when its new PACS – the largest PACS in the country – was formally inaugurated on August 26, 2013.

IMAGE’s local sales partner, Imagemed5, assisted the hospital during the PACS installation project and provided them with the requested global PACS solution or vendor-neutral archive. Prior to the installation, Shifa International Hospital was facing an increasing need to properly manage the image processing of the entire Shifa group, which includes another hospital and a medical center.

Originally, Shifa International Hospital was working with heterogeneous systems, including both freeware tools and a multi-vendor environment. To overcome this situation, the hospital looked for a high performing and scalable single-vendor platform that would be open to connecting to third-party systems in the future.

Imagemed5 installed iQ-SYSTEM PACS including iQ-WEBX, iQ-ROUTER PRO for teleradiology purposes, as well as iQ-VIEW PRO reading stations. The PACS database runs on a server equipped with a half terabyte of RAM, ensuring excellent performance! Now, the medical consultants at Shifa International Hospital can plan timely and effective treatments for their patients using real-time radiology images through their all-in-one imaging solution.

CIO at Shifa International Hospital, is quite pleased with the solution provided: “iQ-SYSTEM PACS is a complete and unified solution supporting a full integration path. Its open architecture design and ability to support multiple platforms made the tedious task of implementing the 2nd generation PACS less cumbersome.”

Shifa’s PACS Administrator, Mr. Abdul Basit, appreciated the support received from IMAGE and Imagemed5: “Functionality, workflow, and IMAGE Information Systems’ service response time and technical dimensions were excellent. Special thanks to the entire team of Imagemed5 who worked with us day in and day out on the project implementation. They supported our vision of making workflows efficient, as well as of expanding the solution to the complete organization. I feel that in a country like Pakistan, with challenging working environments and weak infrastructure, IMAGE Information Systems has immense potential to cater successfully to the needs of the healthcare market.”
