The John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, the world's largest freshwater indoor aquarium, uses iQ-VIEW in their daily veterinary work.
The Shedd Aquarium houses around 22,000 aquatic animals representing about 1,500 different species from all over the world. To take care of the large diversity of animals in the aquarium, Shedd has its own animal hospital.
Robert Van Valkenburg is director of operations at Shedd animal hospital's Veterinary Services division. He has notified IMAGE that Shedd recently went digital for their radiography. They now have a PACS with web distribution installed and an iQ-VIEW version, adapted to their veterinarian needs, is used for their workstation. The PACS with iQ-VIEW was installed together with a CR.
Mr. Van Valkenburg has shown IMAGE how he uses iQ-VIEW for diagnosing from digital CR images of turtles, fish, snakes and various other residents of the aquarium. He affirms that he and his colleagues are very pleased with the application.
