A cloud-based PACS for teaching, please!

In November 2019, the University’s School of Allied and Public Health Professions contacted IMAGE Information Systems with a request for a cloud-based PACS system. Their radiography department had become aware of a similar iQ software installation at Teesside University and was interested in implementing a web-based PACS  solution as well.

Solution

After opting for IMAGEs iQ-WEB and diagnostic web viewer iQ-4VIEW the University was able to benefit from:

  • No client installation required
  • Active Directory integration
  • User role management with the option to assign or unassign studies to roles

IMAGE managed the installation and setup completely remotely and after just a few days the system went live on October 6, 2020. Both the University and IMAGE are pleased with the professional project management.

Statement from Senior lecturer in Radiography:

“I was extremely impressed with the fast installation, set-up and support to allow us to display all our medical imaging teaching and examination cases which support a wide range of modalities (including Digital X-ray, CT, MRI, US, and NM). The iQ-WEB solution provides our staff and students instant access to medical imaging teaching cases whether on campus or remotely off campus to support student education in image interpretation and clinical reporting of medical imaging at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The iQ-WEB PACS has also been embedded in the learning curriculum of the new Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) programme in the new Kent and Medway Medical School. The solution has helped enhance our student and learning and teaching experience.”

Project configuration:

iQ-WEB (PACS) and iQ-4VIEW unlimited concurrent connections (diagnostic zero-footprint viewer for an unlimited number of concurrent users to enable all of the University’s 650 PACS users to view medical images simultaneously)
